We are a statewide, grassroots coalition of labor, environmental, and other organizations working together to fight continued corporate-driven globalization (which occurs, pivotally, through trade agreements) and to win the genuinely better alternative, which is human-rights- and workers\u2019-rights-linked commercial and foreign policy.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

We believe in mass-participatory, bottom-up social change that lifts up everyone\u2019s condition \u2014 as our fates are tied together, across regions, issue areas, and cultures.\u00a0 <\/span>We lead Oregon’s policymaking and visioning for trade justice, along the principle of putting people and planet before profit.<\/p>\n

We were founded in 2004 by the Oregon AFL-CIO and Oregon Chapter of the Sierra Club.\u00a0 We are an affiliate of Citizens Trade Campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Organization \u2013 Inclusive of people from various racial, ethnic, age, and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as physical abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities and religious affiliations.<\/p>\n

Process \u2013 Create educational, outreach, civic engagement, and direct action activities through democratic processes grounded in community involvement.<\/p>\n

Activities \u2013 Empower community stakeholders retaining first-hand knowledge and experience of the negative outcomes of free trade agreements to serve in leadership roles within the organization.<\/p>\n

Justice \u2013 Promote coalition, community, and volunteer engagement with controversial and timely issues leading to substantive organizing and action for trade policy that prioritizes social, economic, racial, LGBTQ, and environmental justice.<\/p>\n

Oregon Fair Trade Campaign values diversity and inclusion as the foundation for effectively educating and empowering community involvement with promoting labor, human and civil rights, and environmental protections in trade policy.<\/p>\n

Democracy \u2013 Actively promote coalition partner and community inclusion in developing organizational activities while actively encouraging quality assurance through continually seeking community input.<\/p>\n

Community \u2013 Strengthen focus on justice issues among workers and within communities disproportionately impacted by inequities directly linked to free trade agreements.<\/p>\n
