Agreement was put on the table.\u00a0 Now we\u2019re faced with potential votes on the Colombia and Panama Free Trade Agreements.\u00a0 This insanity has to stop.<\/p>\n<p>We need your help derailing this dangerous, NAFTA-based trade package, before it\u2019s too late.\u00a0 If we don\u2019t <a href=\"http:\/\/org.salsalabs.com\/o\/1034\/p\/dia\/action\/public\/?action_KEY=6604\">act soon<\/a>, here\u2019s the trifecta we\u2019re facing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizenstrade.org\/ctc\/blog\/2011\/04\/14\/colombia-free-trade-agreement-an-affront-to-human-dignity\/\">The Colombia Free Trade Agreement<\/a><\/strong> threatens to greatly exacerbate the ongoing human rights catastrophe in Colombia.\u00a0 In recent years, more labor leaders were killed in Colombia than in the rest of the world combined.\u00a0 The country also recently surpassed the Sudan as home to the most internally-displaced people in the world.\u00a0 Not only is there no binding language in the FTA to adequately address the labor assassinations and other human rights concerns, but the agricultural dumping anticipated should the Colombia FTA be enacted would cause massive additional displacement in many of Colombia\u2019s most conflict-ridden regions.\u00a0 This deal is an affront to anyone who cares about basic rights and human dignity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizenstrade.org\/ctc\/blog\/2011\/04\/13\/the-panama-free-trade-agreement-is-a-gift-to-tax-dodgers\/\">The Panama Free Trade Agreement <\/a><\/strong>not only repeats most of the problems found in NAFTA and CAFTA, but it does so with a notorious tax haven.\u00a0 Panama has long been a key target of both the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the G7\u2019s \u201cFinancial Action Task Force\u201d for its resistance to international norms in combating tax evasion and money laundering, and its new Tax Information Exchange Agreement with the United States contains gaping loopholes.\u00a0 With 400,000 registered corporations, Panama is second only to Hong Kong as a home for multinational firms\u2019 subsidiaries \u2014 many created with the sole purpose of evading taxes.\u00a0 This deal would give Wall Street and other moneyed interests further power to dodge their tax obligations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizenstrade.org\/ctc\/blog\/2011\/04\/20\/korea-free-trade-agreement-more-offshoring\/\">The Korea Free Trade Agreement<\/a><\/strong> is the largest trade deal of its type since NAFTA \u2014 far larger in terms of volume of trade than anything President Bush was able to pass during his eight years in office.\u00a0 If enacted, the Korean imports are projected to displace a net 159,000 American jobs within just seven years, with good-paying industries among those that would be the hardest hit.\u00a0 The FTA has also faced massive resistance in South Korea, where it is rightly viewed as an assault on worker and consumer rights.\u00a0 This deal would hurt working people in both countries at a time when we can least afford it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This trade package is devastating to working families, farmers and the environment at home and abroad. \u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/org.salsalabs.com\/o\/1034\/p\/dia\/action\/public\/?action_KEY=6604\">We need you to take action now<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0Please send a letter <a href=\"http:\/\/org.salsalabs.com\/o\/1034\/p\/dia\/action\/public\/?action_KEY=6604\">online<\/a> or call your Member of Congress today through the Congressional Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and urge them to oppose the pending trade package with Korea, Panama and Colombia.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, this heinous trade package is just the beginning. \u00a0If we don&#8217;t speak out now, a new regional FTA for the Pacific Rim \u2014 the so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizenstrade.org\/ctc\/trade-policies\/tpp-potential-trade-policy-problems\/\">Trans-Pacific Partnership<\/a> \u2014 will soon be upon
