and New York<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">Citizens Trade Campaign (<a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.citizenstrade.org\/\"><span class=\"\">www.citizenstrade.org<\/span><\/a>) is seeking experienced organizers to lead in-state campaigning on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in Pennsylvania, Florida and New York.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">Trade justice organizers will work with labor, environmental and other social justice organizations to educate community leaders and the public about the local impacts of NAFTA and to mobilize them to participate meaningfully in the current trade policy debate in order to directly influence policymakers\u2019 decisions.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">This is currently a six-month contract position, paying between $3,500 &#8211; $4,500 per month depending upon experience.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\">Principle Responsibilities<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">CTC is organizing to not only safeguard against a sham NAFTA renegotiation that further entrenches corporate power, but to fight for a comprehensive NAFTA replacement that, among other things, actually promotes good-paying jobs, respect for human rights, higher wages and improved environmental conditions throughout the continent.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">Trade justice organizers will first-and-foremost be responsible for leading in-state campaigning designed to educate and mobilize civil society organizations, their members and other activists around the current NAFTA renegotiation in order to influence policymakers\u2019 positions.\u00a0 This includes:<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">* Meeting with the leadership of various labor, environmental, family farm, civil rights, faith and community organizations to solicit their involvement<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Convening leaders from various organizations via face-to-face meetings and\/or conference calls to develop, update and execute Congressional district-by-district campaign plans surrounding the current NAFTA renegotiation<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Organizing public events, conducting earned media and leading other campaign tactics<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Staying on top of national and local trade policy developments<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Communicating with the state\u2019s Congressional delegation and other elected officials<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Coordinating regularly with Citizens Trade Campaign\u2019s national staff<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to\u2026<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">* Identifying key leaders for long-term participation in a permanent state-based fair trade coalition and building relationships with them<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Soliciting funds from supportive local organizations and others to aid in short-term and long-term in-state campaigning<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\">Qualifications<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">Only highly-organized self-starters should consider applying for these positions. \u00a0A successful candidate will:<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">* Have a deep commitment to and passion for social and economic justice<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Work well independently and possess an entrepreneurial spirit<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Have at least three years organizing experience, ideally with legislative campaigns<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Have experience working with volunteers and developing leadership<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Have strong communication skills and be comfortable with public speaking, meeting facilitation and writing<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Be able to work within a budget<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Be comfortable working with labor unions, environmental groups, faith organizations and people of diverse races, sexualities, gender identities, faiths and political backgrounds<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">* Fluency in languages beyond English is a strong plus<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\">Hours, Location &amp; Compensation<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">These positions are based in Pennsylvania, Florida and New York states.\u00a0\u00a0Other locations in the Midwest could be considered for the right candidate.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">This is a full-time, six-month contract paying $3,500 &#8211; $4,500\/month. \u00a0There is some potential to extend a contract and\/or transition into a permanent salaried position, but that is not guaranteed.<\/div>\n<div
